I agree. The judicial branch was supposed to be separate, but when the President can nominate solely based on partisan or best friend or family basis then I think the balance of powers start to tip. I am a descendant of 2 Mayflower pilgrims - neither of whom were part of the separatists who fled Europe for religious reasons (one was the daughter of a rich adventurer, and one needed a job and probably had never intended to stay here). Many of the pilgrims and those settlers that followed helped frame the politics that the Constitution is based on. The "founding fathers" knew what turmoil religion could cause - especially when mixed with politics. And they were right.
Just my opinion though....
