How bad is it really?

I have been inhouse for many years as a Maintenance Tech. I am considering becoming a contractor. Does anyone have a rough figure on what W/C and Insurance will run? I understand how much a bucket truck is and tools necessary. I just keep trying to weight out all my options before I jump. I hear people complain about it all the time. But they are still doing it, so its either good money or they are stupid and stay with it. Not sure which. I also hear people who love it. Any advice would be awesome.
