Actually I have been in the business a long time and have made my way up the chain a tad. I started out doing installs for several years and some construction along the way. I don't decide how much we are paid by the MSO for each task or install our techs do (I didnt get that far up the aforementioned chain). The business has changed quite a bit as you probably know, with that change came the reduction in price, for most places. If we as a company get paid less, then it is going to make what we can afford to pay out less. The margins in this business(installs especially) are generally pretty thin (2-10%) there are some markets that can do in the 20's but those techs are paid better than the lower producing markets.
I apologize for the personal attack, I just get sick of people putting down the guys that are giving this industry a honest shot and maybe aren't paid what they are worth. They are in this business for a reason and most likey the job market sucks where they live and there arent many options. So I dont think it is right to rub their noses in the fact that they work their butts of and arent paid accordinly.
