Both are good professions, and both have their pitfalls. I work for a small retailer doing WildBlue, and Dish Network. The work is steady, custom work is all mine, and the service calls are mine.In the end its all about how much you want to work, and what you can get paid for it. Consider Dish over DTV, and I would add Wildblue to you certifications. Good luck in your choice, and both communities support their own.
