Re: 1907, one hundred years ago

1 thing that would help in the immigration issue would be for America to adopt an official language. All other countries have an official language but not America. With all our important papers written in English (Declaration of Independence, Constitution, The Federalist Papers) to name a few you think in 231 years the country would name an official language. I was surprised when my mother pointed this out years ago. Kansas is
the only state that has made English the official language for all its government papers and meetings. They are no longer required to supply everything in English and Spanish.
More states should do the same. When people from Europe immigrated here in the early 1900’s it was considered an honor to learn English. They may have spoken their native language at home but in public it was English. This whole Spanish thing came about when the started we will lose our culture if we are made to learn English. Well if your culture is that week that it will not survive knowing 2 languages then perhaps it should die out. It never happened to the other people that came to Americable.

To all you Cable Dogs out there have a fantastic Fourth of July, remember all the people that have made America the great country that is despite its flaws. Not even Rome could keep the same style of government for over 200 years, but we as Americans have managed to do it and it looks like we can for another 200.

God Bless America and All Who Serve and Protect Her.
