Phone calls ASAP .... Senators have to choose between voters and Big $$ special interest

DEAR OPPONENTS OF THE SENATE AMNESTY BILL,

Phone calls have to be made quickly this morning but still are important for keeping a final sense of urgency and magnitude in every Senate office.

Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121

The Democratic Cloakroom is saying that the Senate is scheduled to start an hour of debate at 9:30 a.m. and then vote on the amnesty cloture at 10:50 a.m.

There are quite a number of Senators who went to bed tonight saying that after voting YES on amnesty cloture Tuesday they were leaning toward voting NO Thursday after watching the embarrassing display of high-handed authoritarian procedures by both Democratic and Republican leaders that blocked any semblance of open debate or amendment process on Wednesday.

The Big Money special interests, the White House and Majority Leader Reid (D-Nev.) are ! offering all kinds of goodies and privileges to Senators who will hold their nose and vote YES this morning.

Your calls are the only things that can add weight to the power of citizen expression these last few weeks and counteract the pro-amnesty lobby.

It is so important that you make clear in very short phone calls that a NO vote on the final bill will not be given credit by the public if the Senator votes YES on the cloture today. In fact, a NO vote after voting YES on today's cloture would be proof of a Senator trying to deceive the public.

Bloomberg News is reporting that three Senators who voted YES on Tuesday are seriously thinking about a NO today:

Ben Nelson (D-Neb.)

Richard Burr (R-N.C.)

Kit Bond (R-Mo.)

And Bloomberg reports that these three are leaning toward NO:

Jim Webb (D-Va.)

John Ensign (R-Nev.)

Pete Domenici (R-N.M.)

We likely will need every one of them ! if we are to keep the Kennedy/Bush Comprehensive Amnesty bill from get ting the necessary 60 votes for cloture.

Because we can't afford to lose a one of those or the 35 who voted NO on Tuesday, I urge you to be calling all the NO Senators, making one final effort to get them to see that it makes no sense to reward 12-20 million illegal aliens with amnesty in exchange for enforcement provisions that a government agency concluded would reduce future illegal immigration by only 13%.

ROSEMARY JENKS' MESSAGE TO EACH SENATE OFFICE WHEN IT OPENS THIS MORNING

A Vote for Cloture = A Vote for Amnesty

On behalf of our 450,000 activist members, NumbersUSA urges
you to act in the best interest of all Americans and vote NO on cloture today.

In its consideration of the underlying bill, the Senate
bypassed normal procedure at! every turnno hearings on the Hill were held; no committee ever considered it; the
amendment process was stifled by a cloture vote;

The underlying bill, with its instant amnesty for illegal
aliens, its unenforceable guest worker program for low
skill cheap labor, and its meaningless triggers, has already
been debated on the Senate floor and, knowing that the vast
majority of Americans opposes the bill, 50 Senators voted to
let it die;

The bill has been resuscitated at the insistence of President
Bush, who promises to hold enforcement hostage to amnesty,
and the handful of Senators who drafted it behind closed
doors only to once again bypass regular order, stifle any
real debate, and try to ram it down Americas throat; and

The amendment process orchestrated by Senate leadership and
the bills drafters is a shamthe drafters rigged the process by allowing only those amendments they hand pic! ked to be
offered and then they moved to table eery amendment tha t was made in order.

For the rest of your career, your constituents will see your
vote reflected in your profile at
http://profiles.numbersusa.com/
and in your immigration grade at
http://congressgrades.com/reportcardintro.html.

THANKS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE IN THIS LONG FIGHT,
