If I had been splicing after 6 months I'm sure I would have been hacking just like everyone else out there that thinks they are a fiber splicer after 6 months to a year. In my humble beginnings in this field I spent almost two years just doing setups. (cable forming, closure, tray fibers) The next year was spent learning most aspects of testing and trouble shooting. The individual that trained me finally let me splice after nearly three years. At the time I didn't like it but now I see the value but that was almost twenty years ago and Yes, my first job was definately not very pretty. A lot of us have let the vendors pay a little of our tuition. The point I was trying to make was how rediculas it is to want "Fiber Splicers" but only require six months experience. But then again if you don't get experienced people, you don't have to pay as much, the Vendor get a crap product,,,, Oh,,, I get it now!
