You could start by taking some introductory courses available, try "The Light Brigade",they offer some very good courses and usually are available in the larger metropolition areas. The only problem here is if you dont use it you lose it so to speak so you'll need to work with it to get familiar with it. I firmly believe there will be a great demand for fiber techs for a long time to come and there is no better time to get "in" so to speak, good luck.
