Your cement lid is 2" to maybe 4" under that grass/dirt. It cant retain water to keep the grass alive. The sun has it's effect. measure it out so you know right where to dig when your wife or kids throw the wrong thing down the tiolets... It's easier to snake it out from the outside than the basement (less mess and odor in the house/ basement).. I look for things like this when I plow across a yard..................
On the other hand it could have been a UFO landing spot... yuk yuk yuk.
