it's been a while, But I use to carry a cig Lighter in my shirt pocket to melt off the residue after coring. it worked ok as long as the wind wasn't too strong.LOL... KS.
i know other guys were using plastic scrapers from their wives fingernail kit. It gets down in there pretty good.
