You want to use an industrial strength soap like Borax. And the best way I found to get the center conductor really clean is to use a brillo pad while you have AC on the line. If the power really helps eat up the little bits of dialectric. Also, if you're getting 0.04 cents/foot, that's an awesome price. I'd like to send some techs down there to make some serious bread if you have room for more.
