i was given dish network's installer guidlines (6 books about an inch thick) when i started, but i never read them. i just worked for free on my days off to learn the ropes. if you can install cable you can install satellite if you will just be willing to admit that you don't know what you are doing at first. if the first guy you work with seems like a hack, he probably is, ask to work with someone else. someone that talks a lot is a good one to train with. the hardest part about satellite is troubleshooting as sometimes things just seem off the wall until you find the problem and slap yourself in the head. but if you can run lines and work the subs then you will be fine.
