Don't forget ROTH IRA's they are after tax investment, you will never have to pay tax on the princaple, you only pay tax on the intrest when you stat to draw on it. This can save you money later on down the road.
Reg IRA's are pre-tax so you get a tax deduction now but you are taxed on the full amount when you start drawing on them.
I have 1 of each and max them out each year along with son CD's and a few other investments.
With luck in 5 more years I will retire from cable and move to Thailand and open up a small breakfast and lunch place near the beach. Lots of nice women, weather is warm, good fishing and diving, golf and the dollar is always around 40 baht to the dollar.
You can get a steak and lobster dinner a few cold beers and not break a $10.00 bill.
