Re: Ocean Splicing

I got a tour of a cable and wireless repair boat, they do snag it and pull it up cut out the bad and move to another location and do the same thing. The cable is about 4 inches thick with an amp every 60 miles, the amps are powered from each end with 50000 volts DC,sounds crazy but thats what they told me. They were stationed in Bermuda ,when a cable goes bad they load up with the type of cable they need and go out and make a couple of splices. That boat was amazing it could stay in one spot with all kinds of thrusters and gps systems. It was very interesting.Chuck
