You can also start filing mechanic's liens on each job... i agree that it puts the customer in the middle, but unless you are willing to give up the $$ then you need to get paid. Once you place that lien, there will be even more pressure from the customer to get you paid. (plus you can add in the cost of filing the lien and mileage to and from the courthouse to file it (and since this has to be filed in the county the work was done in, that can add up on guys that travel a lot). I had a company recently stiff me and this is the only route available to me according to my lawyer due to the amount owed and the cost to sue in multiple states. hope this info helps.
