Contracting for a prime or an MSO is never going to be lucrative as long as some $15. 00 an hour kid who is willing to do anything to make 17.00 an hour is QCing your work ! Like norm55 said, you inherited every bit of hackness that preceded you. Some CQ chump with 6mo. experience has to write up something in order to show his boss he is doing his job! There goes your retainage, reputation, not to mention call backs (Gas$$$,time) and in the end , he gets his raise to 17.00 and you are down the road because of something that some hack originally did 12 yrs ago!
I found that I had to defend myself way too much for the rewards that the trade paid me. I spent 23 years in the catv biz and I found that with the consolidation of MSO's and the cut throats it created , I better get out now or become an old catv dawg with nowhere to work and allot to gripe about!!
