Okay, now i dont understand. I'm a lineman but I've been an installer and everything in between, and every time I went up on a midspan on a ladder, which I need to mention I hate and I'd rather slide out to it, I always put my ladder facing the way the drop is flying. That way when I get up there it puts pressure in that direction and the drop is actually loose. Thats the way I was taught back in the day and its never failed. This is a tragic thing though and it makes thankfull for all the times I fell from 30 to 35 feet when I was learning how to climb.
