bird dog is the one meter that they, wildblue, say to avoid.
Besides being digital and having to be taken off before the modem will "lock". It only pushes a max of 18 volts and you need 25 to power the tria on the wildblue.

you can use the cheap 10 dollar meter from dss, it will burn out because the high voltage after awhile, but they will replace it for free, so by about 3 or 4 at a time.

I use the old 50 dollar channel master and it works great for me
