Don't know who wrote this, but it sure hits home. yes it has been on here before. The Lineman
He gets up in the morning still dark outside
He straps on his gaffs and belt with pride
He starts in the rain that soon turns to snow
He sees the ice as it forms down below
He misses his family his wife and his kids
He hopes they remember the love that he gives
Working and striving always doing his best
His quality shows above all the rest
Surely his boss sees all the good
Maybe some day he will pay him the way that he should
He works day and night to give his family the best
He stays out late helping the rest
When finally he gets down to the very last mile
His boss hands him a pink slip and gives him a smile
No bread on the counter no milk in the fridge
Trying to scrape up enough money just to feed his kids
Then on to the next job working away
Maybe he will find an employer some day
As loyal as he is committed and true
Who will give him a future and security too.
