Man sought for 3 sexual assaults

SOUTH HAVEN -- An eight-count felony warrant has been issued for Saul Salas of Holland related to the sexual assault of three Holland High School students in February.

According to the Michigan State Police, the students were approached by a man now identified as Salas before they entered school on February 22.

The victims, two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old, were picked up in the area of 24th and Ottawa Avenue. They were walking to school when a victim said Salas pulled up in a dark colored car and offered to party with the girls.

Police say he took them to a home in Saugatuck where he served as a caretaker. The owner was not at home, and there was talk of drugs in exchange for sex. But police say that talk turned to rape.

Salas, 33, is believed to be headed to Mexico, but they're not ruling out he could still be in the area.

Police have more questions about other suspicious activity in the area. Holland Police confirmed to 24 Hour News 8 they're looking at Salas as a possible suspect in at least five attempted abductions in the area since last fall.

"The incident occurred in the same geographical area," said Holland police officer Andrea Pinner, "and that the description was very similar."
