I'd seen this one before. When Primestar was bought by DTV the "conversion" project was also teaching new techs the basic install and every cx wanted their Pstar box back. Many, many good lnbs got trashed or turned in as defective because something else was wrong.
However, consider this. I do phone work for a compay that just takes my word. I report my work and materials. They send a check. I occasionally screw something up. They call, I go look and we correct the problem. They have paid me for things that needed redoing. Occasionally they ask for a large one.......some kind of unbillable favor. I go and make a NC charge on my invoices. I try not to repeat errors. They work at tech support.
It wears you down just worrying about CYA all the time.
