Job Description
Responsible for installing, disconnecting, reconnecting, adding and/or changing video products and services at residential and commercial customer sites. Plans daily route, requisitions equipment and supplies, and stocks vehicle. Maintains company truck and tools. Resolves problems with customer equipment by performing repairs or preventive maintenance on the customer’s installation, by locating and replacing defective parts or company-owned cable and equipment, and by testing equipment. Maintains safe practices at all times in the handling of equipment and when driving. Completes all requested work orders in a timely manner with limited supervision. Ensures customer satisfaction by providing information on all available company products and by promoting a positive, professional image. Generates additional company revenue through effective sales techniques and by offering information about product options, sales campaigns and promotions. Responsible for thoroughly educating the customer on the product installed and/or serviced.
Illustrative Accountabilities:
• Correctly performs all standard installation and service of cable and digital services: reconnects, disconnects, relocations, pre-wiring using correct grounding procedures, aerial and underground installations, wall fishes (as applicable)
• Tests and monitors customer drop lines; corrects signal leakage and ensures that the customer receives a good picture
• Installs, upgrades, tests, disconnects, and/or troubleshoots video service from tap to TV
• Performs basic service repair functions such as calculating drop and passive losses to ensure minimum standards are met, troubleshooting house or drop signal problems
• Demonstrates all work safety procedures in attics, trenching, power tool usage and electrical work
• Works with Dispatch and maintenance technicians to identify and repair problems
• Follows correct procedures in operating PCS phones
• Suggests and sells add-on products and services to customers
• Explains waivers, agreements, customer release forms, charges and billing
• May collect company equipment
• Completes paperwork accurately, and reports and records work order status updates to Dispatch or supervisors
• Operates company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner, and in accordance with all laws and company policies
• Maintains an organized vehicle that is fully stocked with equipment, tools and installation supplies
• Works in a productive manner; organizes assigned work orders into an efficient daily schedule, assures all scheduled appointments are met.
