the cm 1000 is a 1000 times better on the boot up than the 500. I have used all 3 and the trialithic is fast more user frindly but after I got use to the 1000 I used it 95 percent of the time it will gives you forward revers bit error rates it did alot of things that I was using 2 meter to do before plus some. I still used the tri, and sda 5000 fro sweeping but for what you are going to do with it I would go with cm 1000
