Where I live now, the cops do not wear body armor. Also, judging by their girth, I don't imagine they have to engage in too many foot pursuits, either.

Never live in a community where the cops wear body armor. This is because the surrounding community has devolved so much that cops have to "fear" the general public. When that is the case, the public is as much the enemy as definate crooks. The cops then become jaded. That makes for a dangerous situation.
