Had a 99' chevy 3500 with a Versalift Articulating telescopic boom. It had outriggers or stabalizers on it, they just came straight down right behind the cab. HAd the front tires off the ground too many times too count, had the grunt sitting on the front corner of the hood many times whileI was swapping the lasher. It was a good boom but the truck just didn't cut it. There were too many times I had that pucker feeling down south.
If I was gonna go that route again for a splicer rig, I would have the real Outriggers installed for greater stability, or I would get the 550 chasis.
