I haven't seen any phone companies offering any deals cheaper than what Ma Bell can offer. My understanding is that the other telco's still have to pay a fee to Ma Bell to use the infrastructure. I personally have Voip and cell phone for the last 4 years, so I kicked ma bell and the FCC's illegal fee's and taxes long ago (I know I am paying cell phone taxes, but the voip is only a couple of bucks). I was paying $13-20 per month with Ma Bell, just for the illegal AlGore taxes.
They are illegal taxes, doncha know?
