Actually, Mr. Jones is forwarding data (accurate or not, I don't know) about the entire planet, not the United States or Portland, Oregon. Having traveled the world extensively while serving in the US Navy for 20 years, my observation would be that homosexuality is much more common and accepted in most other countries. I don't know about the percentages, but I would say using the U.S as a benchmark may not be terribly accurate.
