at the risk of sounding stupid......are you drilling with the paddle into the floor of the 2nd story?......let me just tell you what i think you are telling me........

you fish the top floor, then drill 2 holes near the base of the wall so that you can verify the angle of the flexbit and what you might be drilling into.......you then put the carpet back in place on the tack strip....... is that about the gist of it?

aren't the holes in the floor a problem?
