As far as fried motherboards, I think that is just with the older birdogs. Like I said, I point with DPPs all day long.
You might need to download a new channel plan for 129 from the website given with your meter. When I first installed the 129 plan, it worked for quite a while, then all of a sudden it wouldn't find it. So, I downloaded again. I don't know if the meter got stupid on me or if Echostar changed the 129 enough for the bdog to no longer recognize it.
You could also use a dp dual, point the 119 with it, and then move over to the 129 slot and fine tune there. While it won't say found, it will meter in generic fashion. You just won't ever be able to check c/n levels though without positive id.
