I have diplexed DTV in to many homes along with cable and/or off-air. It sounds to me like you're not very familiar with diplexers. What kind of receivers are you installing and what kind of dish is it an 18", 18 x 20" or a KaKu?
If it is just an 18" or a triple sat, all you have to do is make sure that the line coming down from the dish is going into the "sat" side of the diplexer, and the cable line is going into the TV/Antenna side. Your line into the house is to be connected on the in/out side.
Inside the house, behind the tv, the second diplexer would be connected as such. The line coming in from outside should be connected to the in/out side, the line going to the "sat in" port on the receiver comes from the "sat" port on the diplexer, and the cable side goes to the "antenna" in on the back of the DTV receiver. To use cable channels on the tv, turn off the DTV receiver.
