Re: Low/No Cost Advertising for independent

At one time this was 100% correct, but not so much anymore. I went to the NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association) Convention in Boston this year, and the theme was "Do you know a low-voltage contractor?"

Many general contractors and electrical contractors are coming to realize and respect the place and need for low-voltage contractors.

At our company, we have come to realize that most electricians only take cable and phone pre-wire because they are forced to by the general contractor. With all of the new technology out there today, many electrical contractors are looking to sub this work out because they are too busy with the normal electrical wiring.

I suggest that you go to the larger home builders in your area and find out who they're electrical contractors are. Go from there, and you'll be surprised how many electrical contractors will be glad to know you. At least this strategy has worked for us.
