That was the case 10 years ago. However, cable offers not only video, but HSI, and Voip. As a customer, there is no one dish solution for these three services. You can have a Directv, or Dish for video and a WildBlue broadband satellite with the business package ($79) that will allow a third party voip phone service.
I have only read that WildBlue will work with voip on such sites as dsl reports dot com.
The way I descibe the difference to customers with Satellite vs cable is that with Satellite you get a better picture quality and usually more programming for the same price as cable. So, if you are a customer with a nice new flat screen tv, you need to get some satellite on that puppy and see it shine, in my judgement.
