I prefer DTV only because of it's simplicity and ease of use.
Also I think there cst service is a tad better than dish.
Dish is a more pay up front company and there a scavenger system. There satellites are scatered through out the sky hence depending on where you are the need for two dishes to get all the channels etc.To be fair though it will really depend on your needs do not jump in to one or the other just because you see free this or that look at the long term contract obligations and see how each service claims to meet your needs over the term of your contract. IE upgrade costs/down grade costs EQ lease/own,service call prices.Extended Protection plan costs and coverages.(NOTE) DTV will let you suspend 1 or all of your recievers if you have a guest room/vacation site etc without additional charges or breaching your contract I am not sure if dish has the same deal or not.
