The only time I've worked in Bell South areas was doing Katrina cleanup. Bell South pays good we were getting $65/hr + $75 a day per diem for months, then the rate dropped back to $45/hr + $75 per diem. We worked 11 hour days for 13 straight then one day off. Bell is not known for useing contractors often.

Embarq seems to contract almost all of their copper cable splicing out. They also use contract installers, but the installer rate sucks (usually $24 straight $36 overtime)

Your best bet to find work would be to look into a Embarq area I guess.
