I imagine a lot of people have strong opinions either way. Here's mine:
I bought Dish back when you actually had to pay for it and you only got one receiver. Installed it myself with the little compass that came in the box and the wife on a walkie-talkie by the tv telling me how strong the signal was. Got it up to around 96 (new house-no trees), and it rarely went out on me. Switched to DirecTV when I found out that Dish wanted $100 for a second receiver since I was an existing customer. Got the two-room DirecTV installed for free, and it's been OK but likes to go out when the weather gets bad. Now...that might be because it's pointed back through the roof of the house. I don't know...somebody can enlighten me there. In any case, I'll be switching back to Dish when it's worth paying for more than a handful of HD channels, plus I'll need 4 receivers for all of the women in my house.
