this is the same problem i've had, but i get it when uploading too. uploading will be the bigger problem probably, just because you have less bandwidth in that direction, and rebooting the box, i have the problem that i can't hear people but they can hear me. my box also seems to be heat sensitive, it didn't like being in a southern window during summer or having my modem sitting on top of it, but that's really common sense.
