frequency to channel mappings....

i am trying to find a information on the frequency to channel mappings for both ota analog and cable channels. in other words if i put my tv on channel 60, what is the frequency that it is actually looking at......the reason i'm asking is that i have found that i can get almost any television to see channel 3 from a dishnetwork receiver, but i sometimes can not get the older tv's to see any of the other available channels......i can't figure out why that would be unless something changed about 20 years ago.
