Sweeping for a living feasible?

I wonder how possible it is to do sweep forward and return as a sub in the southeast and make a good living. The reason I asked is because in the last 3 months I've swept out 90plus miles of plant as an in-house employee i.e. hourly pay. Now I make good money and am relatively happy at my job but not near what I could make if I made unit pay and could stay busy. I can do almost any job related to catv hfc plant except production fiber splicing so I can fix the issues not just take picture plus I could diversify in between jobs. What is the general consensus on this and what are the rates to subs for this kind of work .10ft would seem good to me right now is this close to what it actually pays? The last known prices paid out to a prime I was aware of was .26ft for forward, return sweep but I'm not sure if this is low or high. Thanks for all replies. Oh I maintained 2.5 p/v or less on all plant even with 17 deep cascades on two runs.
