Re: After Pat’s Birthday

Kevin,
There are no easy answers to such complex problems as you pose in your post. The loss of one's brother is a painful experience for most under normal circumstances. To have lost him under such ambiguities that were put forth for the war must make the loss even more profound. Your brothers life was given as an example to all that the price for freedom, whether it be ours or someone else's, is paid in blood. Human beings are the fodder for the canons of war. Therefore we as a people must come to understand that if there is to be war we must be resolute in how the war is to be conducted and concluded. In this way we may be able to limit the number of human beings that must be destroyed in order to accomplish our goals. War is an abomination that should only be brought about in the direst of circumstances.

As for the powers that be? Well, suffice to say that we must do what we can to prevent the powers that be from exploiting the apathy of the general public.

We must, as a nation, stand on the battle field of politics as steadfastly as we would on foreign soil. We must not let them take our liberties away from us on the pretext that they are saving us from terrorism. We must not let them run up high amounts of debt to the point at which we become not a sovereign nation but a nation of debtors controlled by foreigners who hold the notes and thereby have the power to control our markets.

How do we do this? VOTE we all must vote in every election. It amuses me when these politicians say the won by a landslide with more that 60% of the vote when only 30% of the eligible population actually voted.

We all must vote and we must contact our leaders at all levels of government to ensure that we keep alive the dream that all men should be able to enjoy life ,liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is my earnest hope that you may find peace. That you may come to know that all life is fleeting and we have but one day to make a difference and that day is today. Today you can be the change you wish to see in the world.

You must BE the change you wish to see in the world
