I believe what he was saying would be that 60% of the working force in this country is employed either directly or indirectly , in one form or another, by the military machine. Either making parts for what they already have or building new! those would be the facts! Government expenditures do employ quite a bit of the American public. If you toss in a few VA hospitals, the administrators of every government organization, etc. etc., you've got one hell of an employer in the U.S. Government! That 60% was late 60's early 70's figures= don't have current statistics but i'm willing to bet it hasn't changed much. Funny thing, or maybe not so funny, whenever this country is at war, this country is at it's best for employment! Later, Mike M.
