I have complete the NCTI career path about 8yrs ago which you become a Certified Master Technician. I was able to transfer some credits and get a college certificate.
I have also found the SCTE training awesome. That one you study at home, but take the exam at the meetings. NCTI and SCTE kind have joined together now for material to prep for SCTE exams. You may have to be an SCTE member.
