Its not the unit to my knowledge. It sounds to be a pin problem. This is the exact thing that merits a yearly inspection of certain parts of booms. They call it certification. I always inspect my pins regulary . This can be done by removing retaining brackets clamps ,c-rings or jesus clips . find a position where the boom has the least stress on a pin and remove it from the boom . This is easily accomplished if you have a piece of cold roll steel or another pin the same size to use in its place during the inspection. Also check all bushings and wear tabs. You can order a manual from the manufacturer that will cover these procedures. One word of caution though. If you don't have a clue to what your doing , don't attempt theses procedures ,hire a professional . Hope my advice helps.
