Well, guess what? I called the customer today and so far he is back online after being off for a week solid. Our NOC said the Webstar modems are famous for having bad firmware so I was preparing to swap it with a Terayon when I spoke to the customer. To answer some of your questions, SNR was almost 40 while the modem was "down" saturday so it was not noise, we bypassed everything and went to the tap directly with another webstar modem, ehternet cord, and a good laptop, same results so that rules out most of the questions. I don't have a clue what changed between Saturday and today, probably never will! Could it have HAD a duplicate or bad IP and somehow tossed it and got another one today automatically? IF it was a bad IP, why didn't the other modem we tried at the tap work either? I love CATV.
