My understanding is that Sirius doesn't use geosynchronous orbits for their services. I believe the satellites are moving in a figure 8 pattern over the western hemisphere. Two satellites are above the US at any given time.
XM is supposed to be parked in geosynchronous orbits. XM Rock and XM Roll are both parked at 115W. XM 3 is at 85.1W
If you are having trouble getting satradio and are using XM, you might try Sirius since their orbital pattern puts the satellites at a much higher elevation, nearly overhead. This would give you better LOS around tall objects.
