My point exactly. People only take sub positions because of the ILLUSION that its more than 13/hr. They're not subbing because they are real subcontractors and do not mind getting treated like employees. The only reason some people sub is because of the 1099 and no tax deductions. You say you get your own bennies. Can you save for retirement, afford vacations, are you compensated enough to take care of yourself for a reasonable amount of time when its slow to supplement for not usimg your right to unemplyment insurance? Probably not. But if you do, youre one of the lucky ones.
If employees were making $20+ an hours, imagine what subs would get. But as long as we have these irresponsible companies using the bogus sub model the rates will never go up.
Iff you think you have it good now as a sub, imagine life with companies who would only use legal contractor/subcontractor relationships with techs. Give ourselves better options is all Im saying. Get rid of these companies who are breaking the law by mis-classify workers.
