As fate would have it, I was at a hub site around 3:30 this morning. [Not all that far from where the cell site is.]
When I came outside, I made note of everything going on:
First, I couldn't see a thing for at least 10-15 seconds until my eyes started to adjust to the dark. Second, with the A/C units both running plus the generator, since the power was out, I couldn't even hear well enough to talk on the Nextel to the dispatcher.
I guessing the cell phone guy being in a very similar situation had no idea who was outside. The police could see him fine with the light behind him, I doubt he could see anyone outside the building to determine who it was.
It's sounding more and more like a very tragic accident.
