I have been a dishnet retailer and installation company for about 5 years now. We also install DTV. The 3 scenerios that make bad LNBs are: abuse/ weather (when the LNBs are dropped during installation they take on moisture) and IRDs that start tweekin'. I have NEVER seen one in the field that has just died a natural death. I have sent back many IRDs to be replaced, but never a LNB. There's just not much that can go wrong with them. I hope this info helps some.
