Re: Directv buying Dish Network=Wireless DBS LLC

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has accepted applications from 81 companies that qualify to bid in the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum auction scheduled to begin on Aug. 9. But not all applicants, it appears, are ready for the auction.

According to the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), the FCC published a list of 171 additional companies that have filed incomplete applications. Those that filed incomplete applications have until Aug. 18 to correct the forms.

All applicants have until Aug. 17 to make upfront payments to enter the bidding, the coop said, and several NRTC members appear on both the accepted and incomplete lists.

In addition, Verizon and T-Mobile intend to enter the bidding, and a joint venture of DirecTV and EchoStar appears on the incomplete list under the name of Wireless DBS LLC, the organization said.

"Many expect revenues from the sale of 1,122 licenses in the 1710-1755 MHz and 2110-2155 MHz bands will total several billion dollars -- the highest total for any spectrum auction in the last 10 years," the coop said.
