He assured us, we would get all the info we were needed +contract when we got there. All we got was excuses.
As far as him "Loosing his spot" he only got that spot cause someone else's truck broke down, and he was trying to slip in with our truck, etc. He couldn't have a "Spot" without us because he couldn't do it on his own. So, he couldn't loose something he didn't already have.
You are correct, he "offered" us 60 per hour, what guarantee do we have, we would even see a dime of it? The only thing he could guarantee is, if he used everything WE had, HE would get paid.
We lost over $600 in gas to bring our T-40 down there, +$600 for the trip back + 2 nights in a hotel @ $89 per night, food, etc. Loaned him $20. Worked 11 hours = $660 + $50 perdiem. Lost time and footage we could've been making on another contract. Also him trying to hurt our reputation.
You still haven't answered MY question, if it was you, would you have stayed if you didn't know him? Would you have worked two weeks, hoping a man who couldn't even afford a cheeseburger would pay you in the end? Would you have put your company and ins. at risk for someone you felt you couldn't trust?
