The reason I was taught was since you always follow power ( deadends, guys, etc) , then when you have a dead end AND a slack span straight inline with the tension, the strand and cable will rub against the power guy.
So, by using a false deadend preform for the tensioned line, instead of running the slack span in a screw eye on the back of the bolt, you make another frame with a straight clamp and then it will not rub on powers downguy. By using the false deadend preform it gives you more strand to put into the straight clamp.
